The upper floor consists of a large modern kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a den or private office. Newly constructed lower floor contains the offices, public bathrooms/showers, laundry room, workshop and pump room.
Notes:
We have been considering the sailboat charter business to fill our smaller
slips, and have re-designed an area of the dock for better usage and more
slips. We have researched a number of used sailboats in the 27' to 30'
range which could be rented for rooms (we have had requests for this) or
chartered by the week. The numbers are very promising for a very
reasonable investment in this, as yet un-available, service in our area.
Our business license is very broad and permits this activity.

To all the people thinking of keeping their boat in Bocas for an extended period of time, we would love to heartily suggest they use Marina Carenero. Mary and the gang were extremely helpful and took brilliant care of Cetacea. After 1 1/2 years or so, she was still floating and in good shape, despite the fact that I had to leave her at a dead run and not properly de-commissioned. They are cruisers who have taken a dream and made it reality, and we really appreciate all their help. Mary gave us photos of the boat when we were lonesome for Cetacea, and her staff did the periodic maintenance and cleaning that is required in the tropics. We had absolutely no problems with electrolysis, as some cruisers worry about when leaving a boat in the water for a long period of time. We even were able to look on the Google earth satellite photos and make out our boat at the dock! They provide a great service, and allowed us to take the time we needed to get some more money together to keep on cruising. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We were on an extremely tight timeframe when returning, with flying into panama from New Zealand, getting the boat ready, bringing the boat to the canal, and taking flights home to the US for our wedding, and the help given to us by Mary before we got there with vendors etc. was invaluable. A+++ for all their help when we needed it most. |
This is a true turn key operation. The property and business are a
complete package with the corporation (which holds the concession) and all
licenses and permits for a seamless transition to new owners. Purchase
price includes assisting new owners with transferring bank accounts,
credit card merchant accounts, utilities etc. along with assistance on
accounting practices, rate schedule, maintenance program, service fees,
business contact lists, training on how the systems work, and trying to
bring a comfort level to the transaction. Price: $1,500,000 (some owner
financing available)

About Bocas:
The archipelago of Bocas del Toro in Panama is situated
on the northwestern coast of Panama in and around the Bay of Chiriqui.
This isolated region of Panama has only recently been discovered by
international travelers. It is for this reason that much of the island
chain remains in pristine and untouched splendor. It is a diver and
outdoor lovers paradise with unspoiled coral reefs, deep-sea fishing,
boating, kayaking, snorkeling and long sandy deserted beaches. Traveling
to Bocas, as the locals call it, can either be as simple as taking a 40
minute flight from Panama City or as adventurous as going over land by bus
and water taxi. Either way it is a destination unlike any to be found
elsewhere in Panama.

Bocas del Toro Article USA Today - By Mike
Madden, Gannett News Service:
When Liza Belkin and Brian Steele told friends they'd be going to some
small Panamanian islands for vacation in December, they got only one
question: "Why?" But once the Palo Alto, Calif., couple arrived at
this Caribbean archipelago dotted with lush jungles, white sand beaches
and protected coral reefs, they had a ready answer. "This is awesome!"
says Steele, 30, a marketing executive...Long overshadowed by eco-tourism
heavyweights Costa Rica and Belize to the north, Bocas del Toro is
starting to emerge as the newest star in the eco-tourism pantheon.
Guidebooks and promoters tout the islands as "the Galapagos of the 21st
century." Hundreds of species of fish, parrots, toucans, monkeys and
sloths live on the islands, which include a 20-year-old national marine
park to protect endangered manatees and sea turtles.
